Recently, I have found myself becoming
increasingly disenchanted with many of the latest, blockbuster style
PC games. It seems that many PC game developers have become so
content with the technical capabilities of their works, that great
content and good old fashioned fun have been sidelined. So, armed
with a free afternoon and an enthusiast's desire to re-discover some
of the gems of PC gaming past, I trundled into the family garage, a
cornucopia of forgotten relics. In a box I found a copy of The
Chaos Engine. I stopped playing
Prototype. With the
help of a friend, and the mysterious disappearance of about twenty
five hours over four weeks, we finally completed it. Truthfully, I
got a better kick out of it than from many other games which I have
tried over the last few years. Click here to find out why in this
case, the past is best not forgotten.
