it's now officially 11/11/08, and that means only one thing! The Left 4 Dead demo will be released some point today in the UK. Technically speaking, for our neighbours across the sea, the release is not until tomorrow - but we figured we'd post this up anyway!

The demo will be released for both PC, and Xbox 360 - and we can't wait to give it a go, can you?

I recently had the opportunity to discuss the progress of the popular Doom 3 modification, “The Dark Mod” thus far, with their PR spokesperson, New Horizon.

The Dark Mod is a modification for Doom 3 that strives to rebuild a Thief-like experience, with a more modern engine. It has generated much interest in the Doom modification community, as well as the Thief community, and there are thousands – if not millions of folks restlessly awaiting its release.

We've been incredibly busy at OMG! PC Games, and therefore, are a little behind on the latest news, but it appears that there has been several updates regarding the latest in the id Software's hit franchise, Doom 4.

As Doom 4 was not shown at Quakecon this year, it was up to John Carmack to have a word with EuroGamer , regarding their latest project. John Carmack stated (see below) that Doom 4 will look three times better than their other game, RAGE, this is due to the fact that Doom 4 will be locked at 30FPS on consoles, while PC systems will be able to get FPS towards 60, and computers will be much more advanced by the time of release.

Carmack later said clarified his comments, adding that the PC would have advanced so much by the time Doom 4 comes out that while the game will be 30fps locked on console, it could be 60fps or higher on PC, so "PC will be able to crow a bit over the consoles again".

Todd Hollenshead, id CEO, couldn't say much about the game. "I can tell you there will be guns. I can tell you there will be blood. I can tell you there will be demons. I can tell you there will be gibs. In other words, I can tell you it's going to be kickass, because it couldn't be anything else right?" he joked.

Further news surrounding Doom 4, is that the game will not be entitled Doom 4, but instead, that will be in the subtitle. This is due to the fact that Doom 4 will not be a continuation of the Doom 3 storyline - which has a few of us feeling a little bewildered. Surely a continuation of the Doom 3 storyline would be a remake of Doom 2? Nothing yet is set in concrete, so no judgements can be passed yet.

Why did they decide to make this move? Part of the reason is that the fourth Doom game will not be a continuation of the storyline for Doom III, according to Willits. Doom III was basically a "reimagining" of the first Doom game's storyline (a la the revamped Battlestar Galactica). So willl the fourth Doom game be a continuation of, say, Doom II's Earth invasion? Willits wasn't giving up any story ideas yet.
